All the way from Boston, USA, this wooden house, far simpler in design but equally as stylish and no less appealing is a favourite for the romantic getaway crowd. North east facing it looks out to Tarifa town and Playa de Los Lances, this different perspective helps the smaller house retain its privacy and the large shaded terrace is an idyllic spot for sun bathing and reading a good book.
The house is accessed by a bridge that leads to the house. 30 metres from the cark parking spot over a country track and running stream.
Although more popular with couples the house does sleep 4, in 1 double bed and two sinlge beds, and suits families with children as well. The sleeping arrangements are open-plan with minimal decor that are in keeping with the simplistic, contemporary vibe; separated by a bathroom with shower and can be cordoned off from the main area by pretty white linen curtains.
All the beds have good quality hard mattresses and are invitingly made up with crisp white embroidered bed linen (duvets); bath and hand towels are provided for, as are large beach towels.
The bathroom has a hot water shower (gas fuelled) and there is also an outdoor shower for the more hardy naturalists, which children seem to love.
This is an eco-friendly house so whilst we can guarantee you hot water for your shower and for cooking the solar panels provide electricity, so without sunshine you may find yourself without electricity - this is all part of the back to nature experience, however you will not lack for light as there is a limitless supply of tea lights and twinkling stars.
N.B. We do not recommend the small house to families with very young children, especially not those with toddlers as the house is raised on stilts and there is a 1.5 metre drop off that is unfenced on the terrace.
El Cancho is completely self-catering. The kitchen is not sophisticated - with a large gas fridge/freezer and 2-hob gas cooker - but it is equipped with all the necessary cooking implements and crockery as well as an abundance of Tupperware and a cooler for picnics.
There is a large gas BBQ where the majority of cooking is done. The kitchen area has a round table and chairs to seat 4, breakfast bar and stools. Also there are plenty of spots for eating out on the decking (shaded and sunny) made comfortable with huge day cushions, outdoor furniture and sun loungers.
Not to be missed is El Cancho’s sun-downer spot on the rocks, with views North to Tarifa town and the beaches of Los Lances, and South to the beaches of Valdevaqueros and the sand dunes at Punta Paloma.
